![]() ![]() The i7 should be perfect for me (replacing a 6 core 2010 Pro), and I was already planning on eventually moving my RX570 to an eGPU so I can still play my games on it. This Mini will probably stay around another year or two before they bump anything up (or cut the cores like they did from 2012-2014). The Mini I can't see that happening with though looking at how they've done it in the past. Mine was less then a year old when Apple revved the whole line and gave them all dual processors and updated graphics. I would also expect a refresh of the iMac line before the Mac Mini.Yeah that was exactly what I was thinking, no way Apple would do another one right after revving the current one just last month (I think it was April anyways).Īlthough that DID happen with my old Quicksilver 2002 model. Places like B&H Photo began to advertise it as the 2020 Mac Mini which they have recently changed to just the Mac Mini.Īnyway, this seems to suggest that Apple is just going to market the current Mac Mini for the time being. Apple doubled the base storage configuration in March and added the “New” designation to it at the Apple store. I wouldn’t expect a Mac Mini refresh this year. I would also expect a refresh of the iMac line before the Mac Mini. Ill already be spending $300+ on a dual OWC TB enclosure for my audio and sample drives as it is.I wouldn’t expect a Mac Mini refresh this year. I figured they probably wouldnt do another one already since these just revved a month or two ago.ĭedicated graphics would be much more preferred than dropping almost $400 on a Akitio Node for my RX570. Was reading a bunch of stuff about what might be coming up, and haven't seen any mention of the Mini yet so I was probably going to get one this week at some point. So I try get get as far away from that as possible.Īny links to any of this speculation? Im in the market for one right now, was thinking of waiting until September to see if they drop a new one for whatever. I can still remember the days when my computer would not allow me to make the master pieces that I wanted to make. You are never going to complain about having too much, but it sure will be a pain if you don’t have enough. Outside of the iMac Pro or Mac Pro, my view is, just get the fastest CPU with the most cores. My 2014 i7 macbook pro is 6252 (2050 single thread) and it can handle fairly large projects with tons of plug-ins and oversampling, it has just recently started struggling a bit more with some larger projects and plugins like soothe2 (which I insist on running in Ultra quality with max oversampling)īuuuuuuuuut it does flip out when I plug-in an external monitor, although I do have a dedicated graphics card so that might be another problem all togetherGood point, but I guess I’m a little blasé when it comes to computer specs. ![]() That is not thaaaaaaaat big of a different, that i5 mac mini should be able to handle quite a lot The benchmark for that mac mini is 9343 (2467 single thread) ![]()
